This project took a long time to complete since the trees had to be studied and then each leaf was drawn and hand cut. Also most of the textures were created, only in some of the cases were textured papers used.
7 Trees of 7 Buddhas
As part of my graduation project I did a series of illustrations for The Marg Foundation on the Sanchi Stupa. The main Stupa has four gateways, all four carry an identical theme on the top, a set of seven trees. A set of seven trees which correspond to the seven earthly Buddhas of which Gautama had been the seventh. This series of paper cut illustrations is of those seven trees.
